Rumor Control: "You Are a RINO"
“You support the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the LGBTQ agenda and you are a RINO because you are friends with Democrats”
Instead of assuming what I do and do not support, please come directly to me if you hear things about me that you disagree with. I’ve made myself accessible, I’m approachable and open to discussing any issue. We may not always agree on everything, but I am willing to listen and be open-minded to things that are important to you. Keep in mind that as a representative of the people, my personal opinion on any issue is irrelevant as I vow to vote the way my district asks me to vote.
1. Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence- I do not know this group. I have never met anyone affiliated with them, to my knowledge, and I do not know what they stand for. A while back, when everyone was mocking Governor Beshear for taking a photo with the group, I made the public comment that they too are tax-paying citizens. They have the same rights to ask their governor for a photo with them as any of us do.
2. LGBTQ agenda: I was told that it has been said that I support Pride Month and the LGBTQ “agenda”. I have many friends from various backgrounds and love them all the same, regardless of their sexuality. As far as supporting any agenda, no! What agenda is there? I have no agenda. I’ve been happily married to my husband for 23 years and I support the freedom of everyone to have a partner as loving and supportive as my own. Frankly, what someone does in their private life is none of my business and certainly not the government's business. I am not in any place to judge anyone for any reason.
3. Pictures with Democrats: Yes, I have many pictures with Democrats who’ve I’ve met and worked with in the legislature for a decade now. Alongside them, you’ll find even more photos of myself with Republicans who I’ve worked far more with. You’ll also see photos of me with Libertarians and Independents. I pride myself on being able to listen to all sides and work with everyone to find common ground. That’s what it takes to get changes made. Bipartisanship is not a weakness, but a strength and one I plan to use, in conjunction with all of District 10 to help everyone. I’m not in the business of hating anyone or playing divisive politics. That’s why we are in the shape we are in now. There’s too much talking and not enough listening.
I am not a perfect person. I’m not a politician. I won’t claim to be something I am not for political gain. I simply want to do what I can to help the good people of District 10.
If you are happy with our current representative, re-elect him. If you want someone who will listen to you and work hard for you, vote for me. It’s really that simple.
May 21st.
